Today’s Member Monday is brought to you by Kathy Brasby.

Spunk and Spirit Christian Writers Group is the newest ACFW Colorado chapter. We applied for our chapterhood (that’s a word, right?) in July and we’re told that Colorado has now tied Texas for the most ACFW chapters.

Our chapter includes published and pre-published writers including teenagers (who, by the way, are bummed that they can’t join ACFW until they’re 18) and grandmas, poets and suspense writers, romance writers and grocery list authors.

Our officers are Kathy Brasby, president; Juanita Siegling, secretary; Becky Brasby, treasurer.

We meet on the third Monday of each month in Fort Morgan and try to have a vigorous blend of guest speakers and hands-on training.

In August, Chris Richards, executive editor for Written World Communications, will present a program entitled “What a small publisher can offer you.”

We’re pleased to have Chris join us because many of our members aren’t published yet. Chris can offer us pointers on the submission process, particularly to a small publisher. You’re invited to join us on August 20 to hear Chris.

September’s meeting will focus on self-editing and those attending will get a chance to practice editing either their own work or a practice sheet.

We may need to adopt a motto: drive a little, learn a lot! Or consider joining us via the Internet. We offer connection to our meetings through Skype and are also planning to videotape our speakers and lessons. Those videos will be available on our ACFW Colorado website (http://www.spunkandspirit.acfwcolorado.com/)
